Particle Light-Shafts - VFX Graph
I wanted to produce some performant effects to use in mobile and VR applications and the one that most interested me was light-shafts. These can really help to add depth to a scene and if done correctly add a lot of detail to an otherwise empty window/light portal.
These were made using the VFX graph as I have previously been focused on utilizing Shuriken to produce my effects and wanted to try out the new system as it is now supported across platforms.
The systems consist of a maximum of 10 particles at a time and I have exposed a selection of properties that I felt would allow a good level of control and customization to the user. These properties control the size of the particles themselves as well as the bounds of the entire effect. The colour can be altered to match the lighting in the scene and the lifetime can be controlled in the editor.
